Cookies Policy
This policy explains what cookies are, which cookies this website uses, and how you can control them. It applies to yeastiergrid.click and is written to comply with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK GDPR.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They allow the site to remember information about your visit, either for the duration of your browser session (session cookies) or for a set period afterwards (persistent cookies).
Similar technologies — such as localStorage — can perform equivalent functions. Where this site uses localStorage, it is treated in the same way as cookies for consent purposes.
2. Cookies this site uses
Essential (no consent required)
| Name / key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
cookie_consent_v1 | Stores your cookie preference so the banner does not show on every page | localStorage (persistent until cleared) |
Essential cookies are placed without consent because they are strictly necessary for the site to function. You cannot opt out of them while using the site.
Analytics (consent required)
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes unique users | 2 years |
_ga_* | Google Analytics 4 | Maintains session state | 2 years |
_gid | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes users within 24 hours | 24 hours |
Analytics cookies are only placed if you choose "Accept" or if you select the analytics checkbox via "Customise". They are not placed if you choose "Reject".
Google Analytics 4 is configured with IP anonymisation enabled. The data collected tells us which pages are visited, how long people stay, and where traffic comes from. It does not identify you personally.
3. How consent works on this site
On your first visit, a banner appears at the bottom of the screen offering three equally visible options:
- Accept — accepts all cookies including analytics
- Reject — accepts only essential cookies; no analytics cookies are placed
- Customise — expands a panel where you can choose whether to allow analytics cookies
Your choice is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key cookie_consent_v1. The banner will not show again unless you clear this storage or change your preference.
You can change your preference at any time by clicking "Cookie preferences" in the footer of any page. This clears your stored choice and re-shows the banner.
4. Consent for analytics is optional
The site works fully without analytics cookies. Choosing "Reject" does not affect your ability to use any feature of the site. Analytics data helps us understand how the site is used and improve it, but this is not a condition of access.
5. Third-party cookies
Other than Google Analytics (when consented), we do not embed third-party scripts or use third-party advertising, tracking, or social sharing cookies.
If you follow a link from this site to another site (including Google Fonts, which is loaded as a stylesheet from fonts.googleapis.com), the destination site may set its own cookies. We have no control over those and they are not covered by this policy.
Note on Google Fonts: We load typefaces from fonts.googleapis.com. Google may log the requested font file and your IP address for performance and abuse-prevention purposes. This is governed by Google's own privacy policy. We have assessed this as a low-risk transfer that does not constitute a cookie or tracking technology in the PECR sense.
6. How to manage cookies in your browser
You can also manage cookies directly in your browser settings. The major browsers provide instructions here:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Settings → Safari → Advanced → Block All Cookies
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies
Note that blocking all cookies may affect the functionality of this and other sites.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if we add new cookies or change how existing ones work. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do. If we add a new category of non-essential cookie, we will ask for your consent again.
8. Contact us
If you have questions about cookies or this policy, email [email protected]. For complaints, see the privacy policy for ICO contact details.
